JotNot Document Scanner for the iPhone

Wednesday Jan 27, 2010

This is a quick vlog tutorial of how you can use the application JotNot for the iPhone. By using the iPhone camera, you can scan important documents out in the field, and then send them with “good enough” quality, almost as good as a fax!

Great for real estate agents or other professionals in the field who need to often send legal documents and don’t want to carry around a portable scanner.

Is it illegal to get a portable police scanner…?

Monday Jan 25, 2010

And follow the police on their runs?

It’s not illegal, and like the first guy said, it would depend on the state. You are allowed to have police scanner’s. If you really want, I suppose you could follow them on their runs. But I suggest not to follow a high speed, 102MPH chase down the highway. If you do go and check out things like fires, or robbery calls, something along those lines. Go for it, humans are curious in nature. But don’t cross the line….literally. Stay back and watch from the sidewalk or wherever they tell you to be. Stay back farther if you are able to. So of there is a problem, you have no chance of getting in the way and be held liable.

Also, this is the wrong section. Wrong type of scanners.

Portable scanner… for student?

Monday Jan 18, 2010

I wanted to get a portable scanner so I could copy the pages of books that I would need for my research. I have a very research paper oriented major and many books and periodicals I use are not allowed to be checked out and copies get very expensive fast.

My main criteria is it must be mac compatible, able to scan thick things like books and no more than $200 (at the absolute most)

Thanks in advance

In 200 dollars – you can get a low end flat bed scanner. Please do not touch the portable scanners – it would be just waste of your money. What you require is something which scans your book book page in one go – which only an A$ size flatbed can do.
Stay clear of the portables.

Hello, in my business I have to make house calls. For this I need a portable scanner, can you recommend one?

Monday Jan 18, 2010

This scanner needs to work without been connected to the computer. I need to be able to visit clients and scan their documents. The memory will temporaly save the scan until you upload it to your computer…does this exist for full documents like 8 x11 or 11×14…know of anything like this…please not the pen. thanks.

Is there a portable scanner for textbooks?

Thursday Jan 14, 2010

I’m legally making e-books, and I need a way to convert a textbook to digital image copy. Any other suggestions are welcome too!

I suggest using the HP G-3110 which already has a slot to scan books. The unit works very very well, quick, and 9600 dpi which is more than adequate for images. I suggest scanning at 600 dopi max. Add a little contrast to the scan and you are set.

Here is the link…

The good part of this scanner is that you can scan directly to a PDF file and put it on the net.

There are some handheld scanners but most of them are discontinued. Simple reason is that you have to be very very very steady when you slide the scanner on a page. Doesn’t do a great job or even an average job. Garbage.

Now, there is the new pen scanner which i have tried and I fell off of my seat. Amazing quality but, expensive.. Check this link
